Connect Claude or Codex

Kirocast ships an MCP server. Connect Claude or Codex in one click, and your agent can record your screen, click and type through a walkthrough, edit the take and export it.

3 minutes

1Set up your agent

Choose Settings… from the Kirocast menu bar icon, or press ⌘, with the menu open. Open AI agents, and under Setup choose Set Up Claude for Claude Code and Claude Desktop, or Set Up Codex.

Kirocast adds one entry, kirocast, to the agent’s config and backs the file up first. Your other MCP servers stay as they are.

AgentConfig file
Claude Code~/.claude.json
Claude Desktop~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
Codex~/.codex/config.toml

2Start a new session

Agents read their config when they start, so open a new Claude Code or Codex session, or restart Claude Desktop. When Kirocast is closed, your agent opens it as soon as you ask it to record.

3Allow it in Kirocast

The first time an agent connects, Kirocast asks Let “…” control Kirocast?, with the name your agent gives itself. Choose Allow. Kirocast remembers the answer for that agent.

To click and type on your behalf, your agent also needs Accessibility allowed for Kirocast. See Permissions.

4Ask for a video

Describe the video the way you’d brief a colleague: what to show, the steps to follow, and what to explain. For example:

Record a short walkthrough with Kirocast: open Reports, choose last month,
then show how to export a CSV. Add captions and export an MP4.

Your agent starts the recording, drives the app, adds zooms and annotations, checks rendered frames, and exports. The take lands in a preview card like any other; open it in the editor to review it, adjust it by hand, or ask your agent for another pass. In History, choose Made by agent under Recording type to see these recordings.

Any other MCP client

Cursor, Zed, OpenCode and any other client with MCP support connect with a copied config. Choose Copy Config in Settings › AI agents and paste it into the client’s MCP settings:

{
  "mcpServers" : {
    "kirocast" : {
      "command" : "/Applications/Kirocast.app/Contents/MacOS/kirocast-mcp"
    }
  }
}

The path points inside Kirocast itself, so it keeps working through every update.

Manage connected agents

Settings › AI agents lists:

  • Clients: Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Codex, with Set Up, Remove, or Repair after you move Kirocast.
  • Allowed: each agent you allowed, with Revoke.
  • Narration: which agents may spend ElevenLabs credits. See Let an agent use ElevenLabs.
  • Connection: Listening while Kirocast is ready for agents.

Less explaining.
More showing.

Your next good idea deserves a clear recording.
