Versions

A version is one edit of a recording. Keep a 30-second cut for the changelog and a full walkthrough for the docs, side by side in the same project, and switch between them from the title bar.

2 minutes

The version picker

Beside the project name in the editor’s title bar sits the name of the version you are editing. A fresh recording opens on Version 1. Click it to see every version of the project, with a checkmark on the one that is open, then pick another to switch.

Switch versions from the menu beside the project name.

Kirocast saves as you edit, and saves the version you leave before it opens the next one. The project reopens on the version you had open last. Export renders the version that is open.

Duplicate and rename

  1. Open the version picker and choose Duplicate Version. Kirocast copies the version you are on and switches to the copy, named after it: Version 1 copy.
  2. Choose Rename Version… to give it a name that says what it is for, such as “Changelog” or “Full demo”. Names are unique within a project.
  3. Edit the copy freely. The version you duplicated stays exactly as you left it.

The original

Every project also keeps the timeline as it came out of the recording: the automatic zooms and effects, before any edit. It sits in the picker with a lock as Copy Original. Choosing it opens a fresh, editable copy named Version 2, Version 3 and so on, so the starting point is always one click away and stays as it was.

Agents work with versions as well: list_versions, create_version, switch_version, rename_version and delete_version. See the MCP tool reference.
