Grant a permission again

When Talk mode stops answering, your agent can’t click, or Kirocast asks for Screen Recording again, a few steps bring the permission back. Most take a minute; the last one starts a permission over from scratch.

3 minutes

Which permission it is

What you seeWhat it needs
Holding ⌃ ⌥ does nothing, or Talk Mode… shows an alertAccessibility
Your agent says Kirocast “needs Accessibility permission to move the pointer or type”Accessibility
Your agent says macOS “is refusing the pointer and keyboard events” even though Accessibility shows as grantedAccessibility, switched off and on again
Your agent says Kirocast “needs Screen Recording permission to capture the screen”Screen Recording, then a relaunch

For what each permission unlocks, see Permissions.

See where you stand

  1. Choose Show Onboarding from the Kirocast menu bar icon. The editor closes while the welcome is open; your project is saved.
  2. Choose Next until you reach Get ready to record. Each row reads Granted or offers a button.
  3. After any change in System Settings, come back and choose Refresh Permissions to read the latest state.

A row may read Allow even though macOS asked you once before. macOS only asks once, so if nothing appears, choose the button again: it now reads Open Settings and takes you to the right pane.

Screen Recording

  1. Choose Open Settings on the Screen Recording row. System Settings opens on Screen & System Audio Recording, with a small Kirocast guide below the window.
  2. Switch Kirocast on. If it isn’t in the list, drag the icon from the guide into the list, then switch it on.
  3. Kirocast reads this permission when it opens. Choose Quit & Reopen when macOS offers it, or choose Quit Kirocast from the menu bar and open Kirocast again.

Accessibility that’s on but idle

Accessibility can show as on in System Settings while Kirocast still waits for it, most often after an update. The row then offers Relaunch.

  1. Choose Relaunch. Kirocast first tries to refresh the grant where it stands, and restarts when it needs to.
  2. Still asking? Return to Get ready to record: the button now reads Open Settings, and the guide says Turn Kirocast off, then on again. Do just that. Kirocast sees the switch go off and back on, closes the guide and comes to the front.
  3. To check, choose Talk Mode… from the menu bar. With Accessibility live, it opens the Talk mode guide.

Start a permission over

As a last resort, you can clear Kirocast’s answer for one permission, so macOS treats Kirocast as if it had never asked. Only Kirocast is affected; every other app keeps its permissions.

  1. Quit Kirocast.
  2. Open Terminal and run the line for the permission you want to start over:
    tccutil reset ScreenCapture com.kirocast.app
    tccutil reset Accessibility com.kirocast.app
  3. Open Kirocast, choose Show Onboarding, and choose Allow on that row. macOS asks again, as it did the first time.
Still stuck?

Send a report with your macOS version and what you see. Each report includes your permission states, which usually points straight at the cause. See Report a bug.

Less explaining.
More showing.

Your next good idea deserves a clear recording.
