Allow and revoke agents

You choose which agents may drive Kirocast. Each one asks once, the first time it connects, and you can take that back from Settings at any time.

3 minutes

The first connection

The first time a client connects, Kirocast comes to the front and asks:

Let “name” control Kirocast?

name version is asking to record your screen, edit recordings and export them through Kirocast.

The name is the one the client gives for itself, and the message adds its version. Your agent waits for your answer before it can use any tool.

Allow or Deny

ChoiceWhat happens
AllowThe agent connects. Kirocast remembers the client by name, so every later session connects straight away. It appears in Settings › AI agents under Allowed.
DenyThis session gets a message saying you declined, and the tools stay closed to it. The answer applies to this session only: the next time the client connects, Kirocast asks again.

Changed your mind after a Deny? Start a new session in your agent and choose Allow when Kirocast asks.

Revoke an agent

  1. Choose Settings… from the Kirocast menu bar icon, then AI agents.
  2. Under Allowed, choose Revoke next to the agent.

Kirocast confirms: “name” can no longer control Kirocast. Revoking applies from the agent’s next connection: a session that is already open keeps working until it reconnects, so start a new session or quit the client to end it now. When that agent connects again, Kirocast asks you once more.

Revoke and Remove do different jobs. Revoke takes back your permission. Remove, under Clients, takes the kirocast entry out of that agent’s config file. See Connect Claude or Codex.

While an agent records

A take your agent starts runs in the same recording bar as yours, with a sparkles badge beside the timer for as long as it lasts. Hover over it to read An agent started this recording.

  • Pause recording, Stop recording and Discard recording work exactly as they do for your own takes.
  • If the bar is out of sight, ⌘⇧5 brings it to the front.
  • One recording runs at a time, yours or your agent’s.

Finished takes appear in History under Made by agent, in Recording type.

Let an agent use ElevenLabs

Recording and editing are free; a spoken take uses your ElevenLabs credits. Each agent stays off until you turn it on.

  1. Connect ElevenLabs in Settings › Voice.
  2. In Settings › AI agents, under Narration, turn on each agent you trust with your credits.
  3. Set Per take: the most characters an agent spends on one take, from 1,000 to 10,000. It starts at 2,500.

Screen Recording and Accessibility

Your agent works through Kirocast’s own macOS permissions:

PermissionWhat your agent can do with it
Screen RecordingRecord, and take screenshots to see your screen. Editing, annotating and exporting work on the project files, ready as soon as Kirocast is open.
AccessibilityMove the pointer, click, drag, scroll, type and press keys.
  • After granting Screen Recording, relaunch Kirocast: macOS applies it from the next launch.
  • After an update, if your agent reports that macOS is refusing its clicks while Accessibility shows as granted, switch Kirocast off and on again in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility.
  • Each copy of Kirocast holds its own grants, so a second copy in another folder needs them too.

Your agent can check both at any time with recording_status, which reports can_capture_screen and can_control_pointer. Permissions walks through granting each one.

Less explaining.
More showing.

Your next good idea deserves a clear recording.
